Biography
Katie McBroom is a multifaceted creative professional with experience in fields from blogging and social media to makeup artistry and performing arts.

An award-winning blogger and beauty expert, she is the voice behind Martinis and Mascara, a blog devoted to all things beauty (and occasionally, cocktails) featuring beauty product news, reviews, and advice – all served to you straight up.

Martinis and Mascara gained national recognition when Katie was selected as a finalist in Allure Magazine’s 2013 Beauty Blogger Awards. She eluded elimination in all five rounds of the contest and was ultimately dubbed the Most Buzzworthy Blogger of the Year for producing the most viral content across multiple social media platforms.

Prior to launching her blog, she wrote for various lifestyle publications, covering topics from makeup tips to celebrity beauty news. Her byline has appeared in publications including The Huffington Post, MapQuest.com, DailyGlow.com, Tyra Banks’ beauty and fashion site typeF.com, and also The Palm Beach Post, where she reviewed beauty products for over five years.

Katie kickstarted her career in makeup as a performer at Walt Disney World where she was trained in character makeup application by Walt Disney World Cosmetology. She then enrolled in the Professional Makeup Artistry program at Joe Blasco Makeup Training Center in Orlando and became professionally certified in all phases of makeup for motion picture, television, runway, print, and theater. She later added hair to her bag of tricks by earning her cosmetology license.

Katie occasionally moonlights as a theater professional, with experience both on stage and off as a performer, makeup artist, costume designer, and casting director. Favorite on stage roles include Frenchy in Grease, Nora in Brighton Beach Memoirs and Liz in Chicago. She received multiple awards for her acting and behind-the-scenes work, and has garnered media attention for her work in costume design on shows including Rent, Chicago and Little Shop of Horrors.

She hopes to continue exploring her passions and making the world beautiful. In her limited free time, she likes to tour the stand-up comedy scene with her funny husband. She currently lives in South Florida with him and their Puggle.
